MT-NewsWatcher overall considerations:

Good support for binary files.
Audio, video and pictures can be sent, received and browsed.

Filters

A powerful filter system (RegExp support included) allow user to mark (multi-color highlight), skip (kill) or keep posts and/or threads matching filters criteria.
A “score” for match is supported, too.
Filter criteria can be set on almost every header field.
Filters can be easily viewed and managed in an overview window.

Charset/Unicode

Charset is set automatically based upon user preferences.
It is possible to set up a specific charset also per group, or per action (i.e. in answers).
UTF is supported, but there are some languages that MT-NewsWatcher is currently unable to display. Those are langauges that require that the application is using a Unicode- compatible calls to draw text, and handle editing. MT-NewsWatcher does not currently have this capability. The most prevalent language for which this is true is Hebrew.

Thread/Answers

Automatic answer highlight available through filter set-up.
Thread sort in message list is available for Subject, Author, Date, References; an additional sub-sort key is supported.
Thread view is limited to the classic expandable tree.

X-Face

X-Facea are supported.
